James Borris performing as DJ HouseHead is a native Washingtonian, who starting spinning records at the age of 14. His young career started playing Hip-Hop & R&B music for private parties, weddings, and other events. It wasn’t until he moved to New Jersey to attend college did he find himself with a roommate who happened to be a DJ and specialized in House and Reggae. James had not listened to House music much before and what he had heard he didn’t care for, but House music was very popular in Jersey, and nearby New York. He would House music everywhere up north. It was on the radio, at the college parties and even in the dorms. Slowly it started to grow on him, and in a short time he was hooked. He began mixing House and learning from some of Jersey’s best; his favorite being Tony Humphries. House music became and addiction and name DJ HouseHead was selected for himself.
HouseHead likes to spin House in a way that is unique and memorable. He prefers to play Deep House, Vocal House, Soulful House, Afro House and other selections that fit into is program. A program that will take you on a journey through multiple House music genres and energy.
After leaving Upsala, James mostly played at small private parties, weddings, etc. He made his club debut at the Mirage nightclub formerly known as the Chapter III. He opened for “Funk Regulator Celo” and continue to perform at private parties and functions in the DC area. After a 10 year hiatus, (spending time with family) HouseHead came back to the scene starting with a 2 hour show on www.handzonradio.fm that he maintained for 10 years. It is here where he met his partner The Quietboy. HouseHead and Quietboy performed for years in Baltimore, DC, and Miami as Beneath The Underground.
